A renovation solution saves money
The renovation was necessary to prevent the wall from deteriorating. On the south side, the planting fleece used by the construction company at the time was very badly damaged due to the sunlight. There was a risk that more and more gravel would gradually trickle out. As a result, the wall was losing its stability and could become a safety risk.
We have now covered the old noise barrier with a UV-resistant and rot-proof special geotextile fleece. Due to the strong sunlight, it made no sense to plant the wall on the south side. We therefore planted ivy, wild wheat and evergreen honeysuckle on the rear side to allow them to grow over to the street side from behind.
Compared to a completely new noise barrier on the A96 highway, the South Bavarian Highway Authority saved around one million euros with the renovation solution.
