Green hedge

The brewery has invested in an ecological noise barrier so that guests in the beer garden at the traditional Allgäu inn Meckatzer Bräustüberl in Heimenkirch-Meckatz (West Allgäu) can enjoy the beer specialties and delicacies from the regional cuisine undisturbed. The “green hedge”, overgrown with more than 600 ivy plants, not only shields the beer garden from noise, but also visually shields it from the road through the village.

The RAU R3 extensive installed in Meckatz is 77 meters long and was filled with a total of 230 tons of sand and gravel. To ensure particularly rapid greening, an additional planting horizon was inserted in the upper third of the wall. In addition, the wall installation had to be customized so that the walls of the brewery building would not reflect sound and radiate into the beer garden.

Because children are always welcome in the Meckatzer Löwenbräu beer garden, the new noise protection wall has another important function: it also ensures that young guests cannot run into the street while playing.
