Climate wall with automatic irrigation
The town of Maxhütte-Haidhof is implementing the “Living and shopping on Nordgaustraße” development plan in the south-eastern part of the town. The aim here is to enable the further development of existing areas for large-scale retail and the necessary residential areas.
In addition to structural sound insulation measures, i.e. “architectural self-help” such as the location of children’s rooms and bedrooms in combination with sufficient sound insulation of the external components, RAU.bayern was commissioned to build an almost 35 m long RAU climate wall (R3) which will now provide the new residential area with additional protection against noise.
To ensure that the planted noise barrier grows and thrives quickly, the client wanted an automatic irrigation system. But even without this measure, the RAU climate wall will grow green – perhaps a little more slowly, but certainly. It uses natural precipitation and generally does not need to be watered.
Construction began on 06.12.2023. Due to the weather, we unfortunately had to abandon the construction site after just two days and postpone the planting and installation of the irrigation system until 2024. We were finally able to complete the work on 19 and 20.02.2024.
